Just recently a new FPV drone parts manufacturer emerged or is it really new? Who is MEPSKING? Some people tend to think this came out of nowhere.
It is difficult now to tell for sure, it looks like a Chinese company but among so many it is really not easy to find the exact source. It could be just a new enthusiast project from keen FPV pilots.
We did some research on their website host address and IP shows as Alibaba (China) Technology Co., Ltd with location in US, United States.
What made them standout now is drama in the community with their initiative for influencer marketing by sending out document in the form of a contract to small content creators - youtube videos and websites, the contract appear entitling and restricting to reviewers which means they would need to make a positive review and showcase MEPSKING products then in return they will receive free products (i.e 4 FPV motors). This called out some debate between influencers whether the company and their products should be trusted or not.
Here is an example of contract, party A the Mepsking side and party B is the reviewer:
Some reviewers claim they have been able to push changes to the original contract proposal and even be able to add additional terms.
Popular community content creator Joshua Bardwell also recently published a video where he criticizes MEPSKING together with ItsBlunty. Accordingly to Joshua's comment the company looks rather shady and with that AI generated content in their website they wouldn't trust MEPS. Joshua adds that we (FPV buyers) should better avoid buying products from this company because of the shady marketing and considering the price tags versus better alternatives in the market.
In youtube comments a user @Nupid_Stoob commented: "MEPS KING has been spamming Posts in the FPV Subreddits lately that I lurk on. The more I see from them, the less I like them. The Company seems shady as fuck.
On the contrary another user @redonk87 (a month ago) on RCwithAdam's video says: They were on reddit about a month ago asking us what colors they should make the motors ..I thought that was pretty cool"
On Joshua's video @Fly_High_FPV commented: "If anyone would like to discuss the Meh-ps situation, i'm happy to continue sharing. They came from SZ-Speed, which is a $7 motor company from Aliexpress. The motors failed me and many others on day 1. The constuction was flimsy, they used cheap alum instead of 7575, the motor mounts dig into the frame, damaging your carbon fiber, the bells arent truly unibells, the tops seperate from the sidewall. Then there marketing is a whole nother problem. Attacking reviewers to try and silence them is not acceptable. They turned an army of sale reps and fake accounts on me to attack me, release my address, threaten my family, and attempt to discredit me for telling my honest opinion in a review."
Other user says their motor products come from the popular brand T-motor behind scenes, well T-motor is not a bad company, right?
MEPSKING also reached us (FPV.bg) for partnership. This is the message we received on our Instagram account:
Of course we welcomed their message with respect, we are glad they found out about this website but as we are busy with our development at the moment, we will look into their products in the future and reach back.
Further research shows users have pointed out that they have found AI generated content on MEPSKING blog website.
So on their website they have a blog, the title is "How to choose a drone motor". They have article for FPV Drone simulators and it looks like it has been created by AI there we see listed "Betaflight Simulator" - this simply doesn't exist!
Are we all hungry for set of motors that one post review can be made just for that? Well, we apreciate the fact that FPV drone parts are not cheap today, on the contrary, its been increasing price since the pandemic. We from FPV.bg think if we really wanted to make a review we would buy the motors without any contract dependencies thus giving us more transparency and more potential to gain trust in our article platform.
We believe that any product provider should be trusty and transparent to the communiuty, until then - hey face the competition and deal with it! We believe that whoever is working on creating the MEPS products they know what they are doing and will be improving in both quality and relation if they want to succeed.
If you are interested in MEPSKING products we still believe that your money won't be wasted and they have good options for motors. At the moment of writing this article we haven't found any reports for scam delivery. At MEPS website, they offer a wide range of brushless drone motors in various sizes suitable for different types of fpv drones (Quadcopters) such as Tinywhoop & Cinewhoop micro drone, 3-5 inch Racing & Freestyle & Cinematic drone, and more. Currently the following types of motors sizes are offered: 2306, 2207, 0802, 1103, 2806.5, 2004, 1404
